Tokamak Energy signs strategic HTS collaboration with Gauss Fusion

Tokamak Energy has signed a new strategic collaboration with Gauss Fusion that will focus on shared ambition to advance transformative high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnets and accelerate commercial fusion technology.

Gauss Fusion is a market leader in the industrialisation of fusion energy. Tokamak Energy’s business division TE Magnetics has unrivalled expertise in HTS technology. This agreement brings together extensive skill and experience, focusing on design development, integration and testing support, and the path to commercial scale.

This is a fantastic example of European industry working together to strengthen technology leadership in the field of HTS magnet and fusion technology. It underscores the need for industrial alliances that will drive fusion from the lab to commercial deployment.

Speaking on the announcement signed at the company’s recent Partner Summit in Oxford, Warrick Matthews, Tokamak Energy CEO, said “This partnership combines Tokamak Energy’s innovative magnet technologies with Gauss Fusion’s extensive expertise in the industrialisation of fusion energy. Together, we are accelerating the path toward practical fusion energy solutions.”

Milena Roveda, Gauss Fusion CEO, said: “Fusion is too big of a challenge for any single company or country to deliver alone. This is exactly the kind of pan-European alliance we need to pool our industrial know-how and strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy in clean energy. By working together on critical magnet technology, we are turning public commitment into tangible action and accelerating the path to the first generation of European fusion power plants.”
