
Itxaso Ariza
Chief Technology Officer
Itxaso Ariza joined Tokamak Energy as Chief Technology Officer in 2024, following an impressive 19-year career at Rolls-Royce, where she held various technical leadership roles. Most notably, she served as Chief Engineer in the civil aerospace division for seven years, becoming the first female Chief Engineer for a major engine program in the company’s century-long history.
A Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers since 2015, Itxaso was honoured with the Sir Ralph Robbins Royal Aeronautical Society medal for Excellence in Engineering Leadership in 2019. Originally from Bilbao, Spain, she now leads Tokamak Energy’s technology strategy and execution at a crucial time of commercialisation and growth for the company’s fusion and high-temperature superconducting (HTS) technology.
Itxaso is driven by a desire to contribute to the development of a cleaner energy future, and to leverage the transformative impact of superconducting technologies across multiple sectors, helping to turn Tokamak Energy’s technological advantage into a world-leading business.
