Tokamak Energy Appoints First Director of Operations

Tokamak Energy announces the appointment of Lyanne Maclean MBE as its first Director of Operations.  Lyanne will be joining the executive team based at the company’s head office, near Oxford.  She joins the company from UK Atomic Energy Authority where she was Chief Operating Officer since 2019.

Lyanne previously spent five years at Royal Mail where she held director appointments in Royal Mail Group’s Fleet and Operations, playing a large part in the commercialisation of its fleet, transformation of operations and in the establishment and success of the LGBTQ+ Network.

Prior to that, Lyanne had a 26 year military career in the British Army, with the Royal Logistic Corps rising to the rank of Colonel and has served in all the UK conflict zones and in the Ministry of Defence, the UN and NATO in both leadership and strategic roles.

Chris Kelsall, CEO of Tokamak Energy, said: “This is a pivotal time in our journey towards commercial fusion, having recently announced our new advanced protype ST80-HTS.  As we continue to build further breadth and depth to our leadership team, Lyanne’s invaluable experience and in-depth knowledge of the fusion sector will help us scale our business and build further collaboration across the industry, which is vital for our continued success.”

Lyanne Maclean said: “I am delighted and privileged to be joining Tokamak Energy at this pivotal juncture.  The path to commercial fusion is an important one, and one I remain fully committed to helping to achieve.  I look forward to working with the talented team and my fellow Directors at the company, and I join with great excitement at the prospect of making our latest advanced prototype, the ST80-HTS, and Tokamak Energy’s future a success”
